First PIBBA President Receives Award

PIBBA's first president, Dr. Robert A. Underwood, received the Higher Education Award from the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund on November 10 for his long-standing commitment to education and efforts to increase access to education for Asian and Pacific Islander American students during the APIASF’s Today’s Minds, Tomorrow’s Future Scholarship Benefit in New York. Underwood was the first chair of the Board of Directors when it began in 2004. It is now the largest scholarship fund serving the Asian & Pacific Islander community.

In Loving Memory of Petronila “Pat” Tajalle Stoicovy


The PIBBA family extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Petronila “Pat” Tajalle Stoicovy, mother of Dr. Catherine Stoicovy, Associate Professor for the Language and Literacy Program at UOG’s School of Education and PIBBA member and supporter for many years. Pat is originally from the village of Piti, but currently resides in Mong-Mong Toto. She was called to her eternal rest on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the age of 84. Mass will be in her honor on the following dates and times. Pat will always be remembered. God Bless her and her family. May she rest in peace.

In Loving Memory of Joseph "Joe" Cepeda Mafnas

The PIBBA family extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Joseph "Joe" Cepeda Mafnas, PIBBA Suruhanu and resident of Malesso', Guam. Joe was a Guam PIBBA member and PIBBA International member who attended and presented at our Annual International PIBBA Conference for many years.

He was called to his eternal rest on Monday, September 20, 2010. Mass is being said for him at San Vicente-San Roke Church in Barrigada as follows: Wednesday, 9/22, 6:00 p.m.; Thursday, 9/23, 6:00 a.m.; Friday, 9/24, 6:00 p.m.; Saturday, 9/25, 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 9/26, 10:00 a.m.

Joe will always be remembered. God Bless him and his family. May he rest in peace.

PIBBA Officers Attend 2010 OSEP Leadership Mega Conference
