PIBBA Webmaster, Dr. Matilda Naputi Rivera, Appointed to the GPLS Board of Directors

Congratulations to PIBBA Webmaster, Dr. Matilda Naputi Rivera, for her appointment as Member (Teacher Representative) to the Board of Directors of the Guam Public Library System.  She was appointed by Maga’Håga Lou Leon Guerrero on October 22, 2020 and approved by the Committee after a Testimonial Hearing on December 1, 2020 before being confirmed by the 35th Guam Legislature during their Regular Session held December 10, 2020.

Condolences for the Salas and Palomo Families


The PIBBA family extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of John Garcia Salas, brother of PIBBA Guam President Rosa Salas Palomo and PIBBA Guam member Barbara Marie Salas Benavente.

Daily masses for John are being offered at San Vicente/San Roke Catholic Church, Barriagada as follows:  Sundays at 10:00 a.m., Mondays - Fridays at 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays at 7:15 a.m.  Viewing and Mass for a Christian burial are pending the arrival of his remains from St. Louis, Missouri and will be announced later.  For safety reasons, we ask everyone to follow COVID-19 guidelines, including the use of face masks and practice social distancing.

John will always be remembered. God Bless him and his family.  May he rest in peace.

PIBBA Guam Receives Excellence in Education Award - May 18




The Pacific Islands Bilingual Bicultural Association (PIBBA) Guam Chapter was selected as a School Year 2019-2020 Excellence in Education award recipient on May 18, 2020.

An Excellence in Education recipient is the result of an educational partnership between the Office of Senator Wil Castro and participating schools.  The Office of Senator Wil Castro and partnering schools recognize individuals that demonstrate exemplary qualifications and traits.

The award further states that PIBBA Guam is drug-free, inspires students to excel in their perspective grade levels, volunteers in the community, displays generosity through attendance, donations and participates in school programs.

PIBBA Guam Donates $500 to PPE for Guam

Jose Tilipao Limes

PIBBA extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of Jose Tilipao Limes, former PIBBA CNMI member.  He was also known as Ping & called to his eternal rest in January 2020.  He most recently helped the Carolinian Immersion Program with Pat Kapileo.  He will always be remembered. God bless him and his family. May he rest in peace.

Maria Palacios Crisostomo

PIBBA extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of Maria Palacios Crisostomo, former PIBBA CNMI member.  She was lovingly known as Nang Kita or Tan Maria & called to her eternal rest on February 22, 2020.  Nang Kita was a Master Weaver from the CNMI.  She will always be remembered. God bless her and her family. May she rest in peace.

Proclamation Såkkan CHamoru Signing - Feb. 25


Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero signed a proclamation on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, designating 2020 as The Year of the CHamoru.  This year's theme is "Be enlightened, be informed, rise."
