Memoriam

The PIBBA Family extends its deepest sympathies and condolences for the family of Alfred John Uncangco Manibusan, brother of Bobbie Manibusan, PIBBA member and former PIBBA Guam Chapter historian. He was called to his eternal rest at the age of 52 early Sunday morning, November 20, 2011. May he rest in peace.

The rosary is being said every evening at 7:30 p.m., except for Saturday, which is held at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Yigo.

The funeral is on Tuesday, November 29, 2011.

We'd like to say congratulations to PIBBA International President, Shelten G. Neth, who is now Senator-elect after winning a legislative seat in the general election held on November 8, 2011 in Pohnpei. He will swear in on the second Monday of January 2012, at which time he will become a full-fledged state Senator. With PIBBA International President/Senator Neth in the legislature, we will undoubtedly see even more support for PIBBA, and you will not want to miss the 31st Annual International PIBBA International Conference this coming June in Pohnpei! Si Yu'os Ma'ase'! Kalangan! BIBA PIBBA!

In Memory of Eduardo Cruz San Nicolas

The PIBBA Family extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Eduardo Cruz San Nicolas, brother of PIBBA member, Liz San Nicolas Reyes. May he rest in peace.

Rosaries are nightly at 7:30 pm at his residence in Barrigada, Canada-Toto Loop just past Carbullido Elementary, 1st left and 1st house on the right (the road to San Vicente Catholic School).  Burial is this Friday, October 28, viewing from 8-11:30 am at his residence and mass at Barrigada Catholic Church at 12:00 pm.

24th Guam Micronesia Island Fair

The 24th Guam Micronesia Island Fair will be held October 14-16, 2011 at the Ypao Beach Park, Tumon. It will showcase and celebrate the rich cultures of Micronesia, including the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Republic of Belau, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Kiribati, and Guam.

The Fair will highlight cultural presentations from each delegation with an emphasis on regional unity toward the development of the agriculture and tourism industries. This year's theme is "Celebrating the Dance and Song of Micronesia." Join us as we gather with our brothers and sisters from Micronesia to share our unique customs and traditions. You will be treated to the sights and sounds of historical perspectives and celebration, including festive music, dance, singing, storytelling, art, food, and more!

TESOL has a new name: TESOL International Association

TESOL has a new name: TESOL International Association

Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages is now TESOL International Association. The TESOL Board of Directors approved the name change after many months of discussion and deliberation. The TESOL Board also recently approved a new three-year strategic plan as well as a new credo and updated core values. In addition to the new name, TESOL has also launched a new logo and later this fall, the association will launch a brand new website. The full press release is available on the TESOL website. In Memory of Roque Taimanglo

We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Roque Taimanglo, brother of Julia Shore, a long-time PIBBA member. Taimanglo passed away on September 1, 2011. He is the son of Jesus and Tan Ana Taimanglo "(Tan Anan Tuncap), and grand uncle to Bob and Percy Salas of Yigo and Rosaline and Michael Clement of Piti. He is the eldest brother of Cecilia T. San Agustin and Julia Shore. He is also a retired Comptroller of the Guam International Airport Authority.

There are no evening rosaries but on Friday, September 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., a final farewell will be held at St. Williams Church in Tumon. God Bless Roque, and may he rest in peace.
