39th Annual International PIBBA Conference

Language is Power!

UPDATE: The PIBBA Conference has been postponed until 2027. It was decided that, due to the severe damage inflicted by Super Typhoon Sinlaku on the island nations of Chuuk and the islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, it was best to postpone the conference this year to allow our brothers and sisters affected by the storm to focus on recovery and rebuilding efforts as they return to pre-typhoon conditions. As the months progress, PIBBA President Shelten Neth will provide further details regarding the PIBBA International Conference 2027. The organization looks forward to welcoming everyone then and sincerely appreciates the continued support.

The PIBBA Conference is an annual event in which Western Pacific educators are provided with opportunities for professional growth and cultural enrichment. UOG-SOE Convocation Held in Loving Memory of Dr. Sweeter Sachuo

The University of Guam SOE Convocation was held in memory of former PIBBA Guam Chapter Treasurer, Dr. Sweeter Sachuo, on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Guam Marriott Resort and Spa. Close to 80 candidates were awarded during this special ceremony, and 9 of these graduates hail from other Pacific island entities in Micronesia, including Pohnpei, Yap, and Chuuk.

Dr. Sachuo passed away on April 23, 2010 in Kosrae in the service of UOG-SOE and supporting his beloved FSM. Dr. Sachuo was the first person of Chuukese descent to serve on the SOE faculty. Over the years, he supported students from all walks of life, most especially students from the FSM, to whom he was a shining example of hard work and dedication. We extend to his dear wife, Kinnie Sachuo, also an adjunct faculty of SOE, our deepest and heartfelt condolences. Dr. Sachuo will be missed by all his family, friends, students and colleagues at UOG.
